Meet The Snigeler – 10 Questions With João

At Snigel, we’re lucky to have a team of interesting personalities. To celebrate that, we’ve decided to start a fun blog series called Meet the Snigeler. Each month, we’ll introduce you to one of our amazing Snigelers by asking them 10 questions, so you can get to know the people behind the scenes.

We’re kicking off the series with João, manager of the optimization team. He’s an adtech veteran– he’s been with Snigel for seven years! His team tests new ideas, new features, and new optimization strategies to improve publisher revenue.

Do You Have Any Pets?

João: "Yes, I have a six month old puppy named Molly. We actually found her lost mother and reunited her with her owner, and then we decided to keep one of the puppies. She’s a mix between a labrador retriever and something else, but whenever we take her for walks, everyone always asks if she’s a golden retriever."

What Kind Of Music Do You Listen To? Any Recommendations?

João: "I like House and Disco music. It’s the type of music I listen to when I’m working because it can be relaxing or energizing. One lesser known DJ I recommend is Bakermat, a Dutch DJ."

What Would Your Perfect Weekend Look Like?

João: "Probably just staying at home and relaxing with my family. I also like going out with my friends to watch football matches, mainly from my team, Sporting CP (Lisbon football club). And, in the summer, if it’s not too windy, I like going to the beach with my family."

What's Something Most People Don't Know About You?

João: "I like to understand how things work. I’m a curious person. If I’m interested in something, if something catches my attention, I’ll spend hours or days researching it. For example, if I need to build a computer, fix a bicycle, or fix a flat tire, I’ll read articles and watch videos to understand what needs to be done. I even remember that when I was younger, I used to watch the TV series How It’s Made. I think I’ve seen all the episodes.

Basically, although I might not do things perfectly, I like to do things myself."

How Would Your Best Friend Describe You In Three Words?

João: "Funny. Loyal. Good person."

Do You Have A Hidden Talent?

João: "So I don’t belly dance like Shakira does, but I can do belly waves. It’s my party trick."

(He promises to show everyone at our next Snigel meet up 👀)

You Can Have Dinner With Anyone–Dead or Alive. Who Would It Be?

João: "Freddy Mercury. I think Queen was the biggest band that ever existed. Freddy Mercury has an amazing voice and an interesting personality. I think it would be funny to have dinner with him."

(His second choice was Ronaldo. Surprise surprise.)

What’s Your Favourite Part Of Your Role And Why?

João: "Working with people of different nationalities. Working with people from Poland, Austria, and Ireland, for instance, gives me a fresh perspective on work and how to connect with others—something I wouldn't get as much from working in a Portuguese company where we all share a similar culture. I really enjoy learning about those places and getting to know the personalities. That’s what I love the most!"
